2016 marks the beginning of another year of quilt shows. Our first show this year is in Fort Myers, FL at the Southwest Florida Quilter's Guild show. We set up in a big civic center. Even got to drive our cars into the building and unload at our booth. What a treat! Part of the challenge of setting up on the road is getting all of your merchandise into the building over rough terrain, up ramps, over thresholds, through narrow doors, freight elevators and all sorts of obstacles. Sometimes we have to push our loaded dollies a long distance to the loading areas. The weather is always a big question mark. We've unloaded in the rain and the snow and extreme heat. Thankfully conditions for this set up were just about perfect and we got to enjoy a beautiful Florida sunset at the end of the day
It's that time of year again for the big Quilt Market at Houston which begins on October 24th. Looking forward to seeing many of the shop owners who market my patterns. I will be presenting at Schoolhouse on Friday. During market you can find me in booth 825.
The International Quilt Festival which is open to the public begins on Thursday, October 29th, and continues through Sunday, November 1st. I will be there with Heritage Quilt Shop in booth 827. For full information on the quilt festival click on the following: Festival 2015.
This past weekend I was in Jacksonville for Quiltfest. As always, it was a beautiful show with some amazing quilts on display. In our booth we featured a whole wall of sea themed patterns including my new Tropical Twist 2 towel pattern. After the show I drove over to Panama City Beach for a week of vacation with family and some more inspiration! It's a working vacation as I'm busy getting ready to go to quilt market in Houston in just a couple of weeks. Once again, activities at my little "sweatshop by the sea" are in full swing.
I've been packing up and getting ready to head to Quiltfest in Jacksonville, FL this week. I'll be at the show with Heritage Quilt Shop from Thursday through Saturday. I've been home sewing quite a bit since working quilt shows in June and am happy to be taking three new patterns with me to the show. Two of them have a beach theme--Tropical Twist 2 has tea towel ideas and Seashore Pillows includes 4 pillow designs--perfect for Florida quilters and anyone else who just dreams of living near the beach
You can put the little yo-yo designs on just about anything. I'm an FSU alumnus and not a fan of the UF Gators but I just had to make two little game day outfits using the alligator from Tropical Twist 2!
I've loved seeing all of the quilts in the Row by Row Experience this summer. I worked with Linda Richardson of Unlimited Embroidery & Fabric Art in Navarre, FL. to develop her row with yo-yo crabs and turtles. We really like how it turned out!
I've been teaching this yo-yo pillow design in guild workshops and shop classes for a couple of years now. It's amazing to see how fabric choices vary and how each student makes the pillow her own. Aren't these fun!!! I'm finally adding this pillow design to others in a new pattern collection coming soon.
Starting on another trip to attend two quilt shows. First, to Kansas City for the Regional Quilt Show beginning Friday, June 19th. After that we will show up in Shipshewana, Indiana, for another great show starting Wednesday June 24th. If you are in the area of either, drop in and say hi!
I've just released my latest tea towel patterns, Holiday Fun 2, and they will be shown at the Quilt Festival in Houston this month. Hope you like them.
