On our way north we took a side trip to visit the amazing whirligigs of folk artist Vollis Simpson in Lucama, North Carolina.  I first saw them two years ago and have been fascinated ever since by Mr. Simpson's creations near his rural home.
We had the wonderful good fortune to meet him and visit his workshop this time. 

Spent today traveling in the car from Tampa to North Carolina.  Excited to be on our way to Philadelphia for the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza.   Tomorrow we'll continue on to Maryland for a quick visit with my family.  Realized about an hour and a half down the road that I left my cell phone in St. Augustine.  Not the best way to start a long trip!
